WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — July 16, 2026 — The West Hartford community is mourning the passing of Shawn W. Daly, longtime resident and chairman of the Republican Town Committee (RTC) since 2021. Daly died Thursday at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of civic service, mentorship, and dedication to his hometown.

The West Hartford RTC announced his passing in a heartfelt statement, noting that Daly is survived by his wife, Eileen, and daughter, Shannon. Within an hour of the announcement, dozens of condolences and messages of gratitude for his service poured in.
West Hartford Town Council Minority Leader John Lyons reflected on Daly’s impact, saying: “Shawn and I came from very different places politically, but were able to find much common ground a year ago as we got to know each other. He was integral in my being able to join the West Hartford Town Council. He was a good friend and important political mentor to me.”

According to his RTC biography, Daly lived in West Hartford for more than five decades. Professionally, he worked as Head of Group Retirement Experience and Product Management for MML Investors Services, LLC, a financial services firm wholly owned by MassMutual.
A graduate of Conard High School, Daly earned a BA in English from UConn and an MBA from Excelsior University in Albany, NY, with a focus on managing in the global economy.
